Director of Career Services - (Columbus) in Bloomington, Indiana For Sale

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for planning, staffing, and supervision of the career services department and coordination of employment assistance and related activities. The highest priority should be to provide career resources to students and alumni to assist them with their personal growth and professional development. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist students and alumni in identifying their interests, values, and skills as part of their career exploration. 2. Assess graduates and interview alumni to define current abilities and match with present and future job orders. Provide employment assistance to graduates to reach set quarterly and annual goals. 3. Coordinate incoming employer calls to effectively collect job orders, sell Harrison College and our graduates, and assist scheduling student interviews with companies in need of employees. Make outbound calls on a weekly basis to secure additional job orders. Maintain regular telephone contact with all active employers. 4. Maintain the computerized career services reporting system to include the following databases: employer, student/grad, job orders, and career events. Complete weekly, monthly, and annual reports of graduates and where they may be employed. 5. Conduct employer visits to develop rapport, determine employer needs, follow up on graduates, and generate potential job orders. Encourage and coordinate employer visits to the campus. 6. Teach the Career Development Classes (CDxxxx) 7. Supervise the coordination of the Internship program. Work effectively with the Medical Program Coordinator to promote Externships. 8. Supervise and administer the College Work Study (CWS) program. 9. Represent Harrison College through involvement in community organizations and events. In all business situations, represent the school in a professional and ethical manner. 10. May help facilitate Strategies for Success (CSxxxx) for new students. 11. Meet with the Regional President/Dean to review grades, skill level requirements, attitude and professionalism of graduates to ensure achievement of graduation requirements. 12. Be part of a team to help coordinate graduation ceremonies. 13. Coordinate Advisory Board activities and meetings for the school. Prepare agenda and assume leadership role during Board meetings. Ensure meeting minutes are prepared and distributed to Board members and appropriate school personnel. 14. Participate as an active team member with all personnel to meet overall campus goals. 15. Prepare annual budget for career services department and assume responsibility for maintaining expenses within approved limits. Communicate expenses with Regional President. 16. Send surveys to graduates and employers per Harrison College policy. Ensure appropriate feedback is received. 19. Plan and coordinate job fairs/on-campus recruiting as appropriate at campus. Initiate possible career oriented workshops that students and alumni can benefit from. 20. Promote offering Harrison College bachelor degree programs. 21. Coordinate various events with the Harrison College Alumni Association when needed. 22. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Regional President. Education/Experience: Bachelor degree in a related field and two years related experience in assisting others with career exploration, resume/interview critique, and effective job search strategies. Demonstration of strong leadership experience and certification within the career services profession is a plus. Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook in addition to familiarity performing research on the Internet. Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and sit.
